FAQs

What is Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine is a personalized, root-cause approach to health that looks beyond symptom management. Instead of asking “What drug matches this disease?”, we ask, “Why is this happening in the first place?”
We explore how your lifestyle, diet, environment, and genetics influence your health—and then create a personalized plan to support healing from the inside out.

How is Functional Medicine different from conventional medicine?

Conventional medicine often focuses on diagnosing and treating disease with medication or surgery. Functional medicine digs deeper to understand the underlying causes of symptoms like fatigue, digestive issues, or hormone imbalances.
We use comprehensive labs, nutrition, lifestyle shifts, and natural therapies to restore function—not just manage symptoms.

What kinds of symptoms or conditions do you work with?

Root to Remedy Healing specializes in helping women who feel tired, foggy, inflamed, or frustrated—especially when “labs are normal.” Common concerns we support include:

  • Fatigue and burnout

  • Gut issues (bloating, constipation, reflux, SIBO)

  • Hormone imbalances (PMS, PCOS, perimenopause)

  • Brain fog and anxiety

  • Blood sugar imbalances

  • Chronic stress and sleep issues

  • Autoimmune flares and inflammatory conditions

Do you offer lab testing?

Yes! We offer advanced functional lab testing, which may include:

  • DUTCH Hormone Testing

  • Stool Testing

  • Micronutrient Testing

  • Blood Chemistry Panels

  • Mold, Mycotoxin, and Heavy Metal Testing (when appropriate)
Labs are selected based on your health history, symptoms, and goals.

  • Ultrasounds, MRIs, CTs, and other advanced imaging.

Do I have to do lab testing to work with you?

Yes—functional lab testing is required for all patients over the age of 18. These labs help us uncover the root causes of your symptoms and ensure that we’re creating a personalized, evidence-based plan that truly supports your healing.

If you’ve already completed lab work with another provider within the past 6 months, we’re happy to review and incorporate those results if they align with our clinical needs. If not, we’ll recommend the most appropriate functional tests based on your health history and goals.

Can you work with me if I’m already on medication or seeing a doctor?

Yes! Functional medicine works alongside your existing care team. We do not replace your primary care provider, but we help fill the gaps—especially when it comes to chronic, complex, or “mystery” symptoms that haven’t been resolved elsewhere.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

You’ll start with a 90-minute deep-dive intake session, where we’ll go over your full health history, symptoms, and goals. We’ll review any labs you already have, talk through functional lab options, and co-create your first phase plan (nutrition, lifestyle, supplements, and more).

Do you take insurance?

We are an out-of-pocket practice and do not bill insurance directly. However, we can provide superbills for some services, and you may be able to use HSA/FSA funds for care, labs, or supplements.

How do I get started?

You can start by choosing one of our New Client Packages or by booking a Free 15-Minute Discovery Call to see if it’s the right fit. Visit the [Book Now] to schedule.

Do you work virtually?

Yes! All appointments are held virtually via secure video calls. This means you can access expert-level care from the comfort of your home—currently serving patients in Ohio.
